Wisdom tooth surgery with a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon — not a trainee.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom tooth removal performed under local anaesthetic, sedation or general anaesthetic depending on complexity — planned to protect the inferior alveolar nerve every single time.
About wisdom teeth removal
Not every impacted wisdom tooth needs to come out. NICE guidance (updated in 2020) supports removal only when there is a specific indication: recurrent pericoronitis, unrestorable caries, cystic change, or interference with orthodontic treatment. Where surgery is indicated, Mr Farook uses a CBCT scan for any tooth sitting within 2mm of the inferior alveolar nerve, and offers a coronectomy (removal of the crown only, leaving the roots in situ) where full removal would carry an unacceptable risk of permanent numbness. Recovery is typically 5–7 days of soft diet and analgesia; most patients return to office work within 3 days.
